Michelle’s unique approach to treatment began with families requesting travel to conduct ‘in-home’ work due to needing extra privacy beyond what a big private practice office could offer. Others requested her to travel to their homes because their treatment required extra levels of therapeutic intensity. This laid the groundwork for ICM’s fundamental goal, which is improving lives and functioning in revolutionary ways to overcome common roadblocks and barriers.
Michelle became fascinated at an early age with understanding the intersection of Psychology and Social Work. Because of this interest, she decided to attend a specialized psychology program at New York University where she would not only learn about psychology, but also simultaneously apply the knowledge hands-on.
Additionally, Michelle worked at Mount Sinai Hospital on a research team investigating cardiovascular disease throughout high school. She always strived to understand the mind and body, as well as the intersection between the two. This further led to her solidifying her holistic understanding and approach in her practice.
ICM prides itself on it’s dedication to understanding and treating lesser known mental health presentations, for instance the Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) presentation of high masking Autism. ICM understands how those who have been misdiagnosed will unfortunately be subject to incorrect and therefore harmful treatment, and the practice is dedicated to thoughtful assessments and interventions.
ICM is often described as the quarterback of the treatment team. ICM collaborates and integrates professionals in other specialties to ensure comprehensive and well rounded care.
ICM is focused on not only looking at different problem areas, but also the underlying functions of whatever behaviors others are focused on. We look beyond bandaging a wound. We work to figure out how and why that wound is repeatedly appearing.
We are passionate about figuring out differential diagnoses, especially when there hasn’t been success in prior treatment. We are dedicated to taking the time to assess the primary concerns from all angles, to uncover the most effective way to help, whether it’s easy or not.
We also very proud to have partnered and continue to partner with many schools, camps, colleges, recovery programs, and other institutions, to provide workshops and trainings. We are passionate about teaching others and making essential care more accessible.
